FAQs

Q: Are we allowed to burn wood in Truckee and Tahoe?
A: Yes. There are however some newer developments like Grey's Crossing and Old Greenwood that elected not to allow wood-burning appliances. The remaining areas have air quality regulations which mandate that only new, clean-burning appliances be installed. As of May 31, 2008, the Town of Truckee has mandated that all non-EPA stoves and inserts be removed. Non-compliant built-in fireplaces are not affected and burning is allowed in these units.

Q: Isn't gas expensive to heat with?
A: Most forced-air systems and hydronic units can be very expensive to heat with. Because lower btu gas fireplaces are zone heaters and are heating only the room you want, and not heating ductwork and crawl spaces, these units are more economical to heat with than other gas-fired options.

Q: Can a pellet stove be hooked up to a thermostat?
A: The units we sell can be. It is even possible to integrate the thermostat so that you can dial-up and turn on the fireplace before arriving to the home.
