We Are Mountain Home Center

Our Evolution

Mountain Home Center was formed in the mid 80's and grew quickly specializing in fireplaces and spas. After outgrowing two locations and expanding into outdoor patio furniture, saunas, home accessories, outdoor kitchens, firepits and patio heaters it was time to build our own building. So in 2004, and only ½ mile from where we had been located for 16 years we began the design process of what would become one of the premier showrooms of its type in the nation. With the help of local professionals, contractors and tradespeople we completed the construction of our current store in September 2006.

With Sales, Installation, Service, Delivery, Warehouse and Administration staff, we now total 25 full time employees dedicated to ensuring that your experience before, during and after the sale keeps you smiling. Owners John and Karen Mills, Tom and Alissa Just, and Skip Stahmer have over 100 years of combined hearth, spa and patio retail experience. While business has evolved from the early days of simple woodstoves, you can still find personal care and customer services as the core business philosophy adhered to by all the teams at Mountain Home Center.

NFI Certified. Mountain Home Center is the only Truckee/Tahoe area supplier and installer with two certified technicians on staff.

Contractor's Association of Truckee/Tahoe Member. We have been a member of CATT since its inception in 1988, and owner Tom Just has been on the CATT board of directors since 2000.

Factory Certified. All technicians, installation foremen, installation managers and sales staff are factory certified.

Award Winning. We have been recognized by our manufacturer vendors with multiple sales and service awards.

Excellence in Leadership. We have 12 graduates and 3 master graduates of Rapport Leadership International on staff.

Local Expertise. We have been recognized as leaders in the hearth industry by the Town of Truckee, which recruits us to train local woodstove inspectors.

We offer chimney sweeping, stove pipe sweeping, repairs and warranty maintenance to the greater Lake Tahoe area, including North Lake Tahoe, West Shore, Incline Village, Truckee, Verdi, Sierraville, Graeagle and Soda Springs.
